In 1999, an exhausted, young, single mom of two children found herself huddled on her bathroom floor, contemplating suicide, certain that no one could understand the magnitude of her devastation. Financial struggles, parenting challenges, personal failures, and mental stress culminated into an almost unbearable plight. She felt stuck. While on the floor that day, that young single mom made a decision to surrender her life to Jesus Christ. Although the road was riddled with highs and lows, the single mom learned much and became an 11-time Circle of Excellence award recipient in Corporate America, securing $55 million in accounts, achieving financial, mental, and parental success. She never forgot that moment on the bathroom floor, however, and what it felt like to be parenting alone, with little money and no hope. That young, single mom was our founder, Jennifer Maggio.

In January 2007, Maggio launched a support group for single mothers. Three single moms attended. The meetings grew more than 1000% in the first year, eventually growing into one of the nation’s largest single moms’ support groups. Its success and growth, as well as the best practices uncovered during its development, led to The Life of a Single Mom becoming a formal 501c3 in 2011. The rapid growth that followed included launching the largest online classroom in the U.S. for single moms in 2017, Single Mom University®, releasing hundreds of books and podcasts, and implementing single mom support groups in thousands of churches nationally and beyond.

By 2022, the organization had served over 1,000,000 single mothers, beginning to slowly expand services to other women in hopes of preventing future single motherhood by providing trauma recovery to young women, counseling to married women, maternal mental health, and other support services. By 2025, the National Single Mom’s Conference was renamed the Unstuck Women’s Conference and expanded to reach more than 12,000 in one event – the largest in the organization’s history. In 2026, the organization officially rebranded Unstuck Ministries with one goal – that no bound woman would remain stuck.

Today, Unstuck Ministries offers a variety of both single mom and general women’s programming, including working with thousands of churches to form single moms’ support groups, hosting Single Mom University, and providing the Unstuck Women’s Conference and Boot Camps. In addition, hundreds of thousands of women annually engage in Unstuck’s videos, podcasts, eBooks, articles, and workshops. We are award-winning and fully accredited for our financial transparency by several nonprofit-governing organizations.
